Software ROI Guide: Use social listening tools to discover what your clients are talking about right now

We are living in interesting times.

When audiences are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, there seems no way to bridge the gap. Offence is on the rise. Unfortunately, it's never been easier to anger people.

And it's never been more important to listen.

Online conversations are happening everywhere

Social listening tools give you an understanding of what's being talked about online. These tools monitor, track, and analyze online conversations. They are designed to help you understand what's happening to a specific brand or industry, and to become current on trending topics in social media, blogs and forums.

How social listening tools work

Use a social listening tool when you need to track whether conversations about a topic are positive, neutral or negative - a plus right now. Some tools detect patterns in conversations around specific keywords and hashtags. You can also use these platforms to get a sense of what your clients think about your competitors.

Use Awario to cut research time

Awario: With 13 billion searches daily, Awario helps you find new clients, and discover the top thought leaders and influencers for any topic. Its functionality allows it to search multiple social media platforms, as well as blogs and forums.

Cost: For $27 (US) per month, Awario will give you three topics to monitor, unlimited keywords per topic, and keep tabs on 30,000 new mentions of your brand per month.

Use XPro to track conversations on X

TweetDeck was originally a free platform used to track conversations across Twitter.

The new version, XPro, allows you to pull up several conversations in X (formerly Twitter), so that you can review conversations around specific topics and news stories.

XPro does not provide the functionality of other listening tools. However, focusing on just one platform can help you reduce data overwhelm.

Cost: XPro is included in the subscription for X Premium. X Premium costs $8 (US) per month, or $84 per year.
